Abandon President Roosevelt Railroad and Engine

We took a trip to look for an abandon Engine in a field today but was surprise to also find the abandon Roosevelt railroad M line. This was a 7 mile rail line that President Roosevelt took as he went down to Warm Springs Georgia. The President rode the line around 50 times and his funeral train rode this line. There use to be a Museum at this location but also has become abandon. The engine in the photo was built in 1892. There is another image of a cart that they was planning on taking tours on. I found some 2009 Youtube videos of maintenance workers using it and traveling down the rail line.

World’s First Coca – Cola Sign (Young Brother Pharmacy)

After visiting the Tellus Science museum in Cartersville, Georgia we found this on the GPS. I wish I was able to go inside but unfortunately the pharmacy was closed.

Central State Mental Hospital (Milledgeville, GA)

Traveling back from Savannah, GA we decided to swing by the Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia. Built in 1842 and peak population of 12,000 patients in a mental hospital this was a must see for me.  I was expecting a single large building but instead it was very large campus style layout. I was not able to find the graveyard which they used numbers instead of name markers to mark the graves. Here the pictures from our trip, sorry I did not go inside.

I recently went back and a police officer had a word with me. Parentally they can give trespassing tickets for just looking into the windows. I will add some more pictures soon including the showers.

Visit to the Georgia Guidestones

A friend of mine told me about the Georgia Guidestones place after he watched some History Channel special. We went and visited it few months ago. After that I took my family to see it a few weeks ago.

The place is worth a visit if your within a 50 miles away. For the most part it is very interesting because it is out of the middle of no where. You will pass many chicken houses on the way and then turn down a partial paved to get to it. There is a little curiosity to it because the person who funded it is unknown and where the rules came from. A granite company near by that is still in business that built the Guidestones.
